Greek Chicken Salad Recipe with Homemade Tzatziki

A proper Greek chicken salad is a full meal, not a side. Enough substance to keep you full, enough freshness to feel light, and topped with tzatziki that ties everything together. Here’s the version we make at home.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 package Glacial Treasure Chicken Souvlaki or Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast
  • Large head of romaine or mixed greens, chopped
  • 2 large tomatoes, cubed
  • 1 English cucumber, cubed
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup crumbled feta
  • 1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives
  • 1/2 cup pepperoncini or banana peppers (optional but recommended)
  • 1 cup D&D Poultry homemade Tzatziki (from our Cash & Carry — no other version compares)
  • Dressing: 1/4 cup olive oil, juice of 1 lemon, 1 tsp dried oregano, salt and pepper

Method

Cook the chicken. If using souvlaki, grill or pan-sear over medium-high heat 4-5 minutes per side, remove from skewers, slice. If using lemon pepper breast, bake at 200°C for 22-25 minutes, rest, then slice.

Prep the vegetables. Chop the romaine, cube tomatoes and cucumber, slice red onion, drain the olives and peppers.

Whisk the dressing in a small bowl or jar.

Assembly

Divide the greens among four plates or bowls. Layer tomato, cucumber, red onion, feta, olives, and pepperoncini. Fan the sliced chicken across the top. Drizzle with dressing. Add a generous dollop of Tzatziki alongside — not mixed in, so each bite is a choice.

Serve with warm pita on the side.

Why the Homemade Tzatziki Matters Here

This salad depends on the Tzatziki being the real thing. Store-bought Tzatziki tends to be watery, over-stabilized, and mild — which won’t hold up against the bold Greek salad flavours. Our homemade Tzatziki, made from Anastasia Dikeos’s original recipe, is thick, garlic-forward, and full of character. It’s what makes this salad worth eating.

Available at our Cash & Carry at 300 Milliken Blvd, Toronto. Open Monday to Friday 9am–5pm, Saturday 9am–3pm.
