Kids can be tough customers at the dinner table. Here are five Glacial Treasure recipes we’ve seen kids happily eat — no bribery, no vegetables hidden in strange places. Just chicken done in ways that appeal to younger palates.
1. Chicken Nuggets (Homemade-Ish)
Cut Glacial Treasure Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast into bite-sized pieces. Bread them (flour, egg, breadcrumbs). Bake at 220°C for 15 minutes until golden and cooked through. Serve with ketchup or honey mustard. Kids don’t miss the drive-through when the homemade version is this easy.
2. Souvlaki Skewers (Deconstructed)
For picky kids, take the souvlaki off the skewers and serve the chicken cubes on a plate with pita, plain rice, and cucumber slices. Keep everything separate. Let them build their own bites or just eat components. The souvlaki flavour usually wins them over.
3. Chicken and Rice (One Pan)
Layer cubed cooked chicken over cooked rice in a shallow bowl. Add butter and a light sprinkle of salt. That’s it. This is the meal that saved us on nights when nothing else was working.
4. Chicken Wings (Never Fails)
Chicken wings from our Cash & Carry are one of the most reliably kid-approved products we make. Bake at 200°C for 45 minutes until crispy, toss with your favourite sauce (BBQ for kids works well), serve with carrots and celery. Weekend movie night dinner.
5. Chicken Quesadillas
Shredded cooked chicken, shredded cheese, tortilla, folded and grilled in a pan. Serve with sour cream and salsa on the side. Kids can eat it with their hands. Ready in ten minutes.
The Underlying Trick
Kids generally like foods that are mild in flavour, familiar in format, and where they can control the toppings/dips. Any Glacial Treasure product works with that formula — the chicken is already well-seasoned but not overwhelming, and cooking it simply lets kids add their own preferences.
Also: buying groceries when kids are hungry never works. Do the Fortinos run without them if you can.
