What Makes a Premium Frozen Chicken Brand? The Glacial Treasure Standard

Premium is one of the most overused words in grocery packaging. It appears on products that are premium in price but not necessarily in quality, sourcing, or process. So when we say Glacial Treasure is a premium chicken brand, we want to be specific about what that means.

Ontario Sourcing

Glacial Treasure is made with Ontario-raised chicken wherever possible. We prioritize local sourcing not because it’s a marketing advantage but because it’s a shorter supply chain, a fresher product, and a reflection of the values that Kostas and Anastasia Dikeos brought to this business when they came from Greece and built D&D Poultry in Toronto. Buying local is a commitment, not a slogan.

HACCP Certification Since 2006

Every Glacial Treasure product is made in our HACCP-certified facility. This is the same food safety standard required by Ontario’s top hospitals, government facilities, and restaurant chains. We implemented it in 2006 — not because we were required to, but because we believed our customers deserved documented proof that the food they’re buying is safe.

Clean Label Formulation

Our core Glacial Treasure product line is gluten-free, soy-free, and nitrite-free. The ingredient lists are short. The preservatives that appear in most store-brand frozen chicken products are not in ours. This was a deliberate decision, made by a family that has always made food they would eat themselves.

Halal Certification

Glacial Treasure is halal-certified — meaningful for a significant portion of Ontario’s population and an additional layer of ethical and process-driven quality assurance that extends across our entire production line.

Three Generations of Accountability

Kostas and Anastasia Dikeos built D&D Poultry. Their four children — Betty, Alex, Georgia, and Bobby — run it. Five grandchildren work in it. When a product carries the Glacial Treasure name, it carries the reputation of a family that has been making chicken products in Toronto for over thirty years. We’ve won the Top Choice Award two years in a row. That’s not a marketing narrative. That’s accountability.
