Launching a retail brand for the first time means making hard choices. We could have put twenty products on Fortinos shelves. We chose five. Here’s the thinking behind the shortlist.
Chicken Souvlaki — The Signature
If Glacial Treasure had to be introduced to Ontario with one product, this would have been it. Souvlaki is the product our family has been perfecting since Kostas and Anastasia came from Greece. It’s the marinade recipe that customers at our Cash & Carry have been buying for thirty years. If we couldn’t win with our signature, we shouldn’t launch at all. We can. And we are.
Pork Souvlaki — The Traditional
A classic Greek combination — the pork adds richness and traditional character to a mixed skewer. This product speaks directly to Ontario’s Greek community while introducing a broader audience to the authentic version of a dish they may only know from restaurants.
Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast — The Everyday
Every launch needs a workhorse product — something that fits into any cuisine, any meal, any weeknight. Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast is that product. It’s not marketed as ethnic or specialty. It’s the versatile chicken breast that pairs with everything from Greek salad to pasta to a simple grain bowl. For shoppers who might be intimidated by the more specialized products, this is the entry point.
What’s Not on the Shelf Yet
Our full range includes many products not currently in the Fortinos launch — Kafta, Stuffed Chicken Breast, Chicken Wings, our various breaded lines, and specialty items. These will roll out over time as we ramp up capacity and as retail conversations expand. In the meantime, the complete D&D Poultry range is always at our Cash & Carry at 300 Milliken Blvd, Toronto.
