If a food safety issue ever affected a Glacial Treasure product, we could trace the affected batch back to the day and shift it was produced — and forward to the exact retail locations it was shipped to. Here’s how our traceability system works, and why it matters even when everything is going right.
Every Batch Has a Lot Number
When raw chicken arrives at our facility from an Ontario farm, it’s assigned a lot number that stays with it through every subsequent step of production. When it’s marinated, seasoned, portioned, formed, frozen, packaged, and palletized, the lot number is recorded at each stage. When a finished pallet ships to a Fortinos distribution centre, that pallet’s contents are documented against the outgoing shipping records.
This means we can look at any individual bag of Glacial Treasure on a Fortinos shelf, read the lot number on the package, and reconstruct the entire history of that product — where the chicken came from, when it arrived at our facility, when it was produced, which shift produced it, when it shipped, and which distribution route it followed.
Why This Matters When Everything Is Going Right
Traceability isn’t just about crisis response — it’s about maintaining a standard. When every batch is documented, every shift is accountable, and every ingredient is tracked. That documentation creates ongoing pressure to do things right the first time. Our team knows their work is on the record. That’s the reason our HACCP certification has held for nearly two decades.
Why This Matters When Something Goes Wrong
If a food safety issue is ever detected — a supplier recall, a contamination finding, a customer complaint that requires investigation — we can act within minutes rather than days. We can isolate affected batches. Notify Fortinos and any other affected clients. Pull the product from shelves. And identify the root cause with precision instead of guessing. This is what HACCP-certified traceability makes possible.
For consumers, this means: if you ever have concerns about a specific Glacial Treasure product, we can investigate it directly. Contact us at hello@ddpoultry.com or 416-609-9300 with the lot number on the package. That level of accountability is what separates a manufacturer that stands behind its product from one that ships and hopes.
