We spent thirty years building toward this moment — and then it happened. Glacial Treasure hit shelves at Fortinos stores across Ontario, and the first week has been everything we hoped it would be and a few things we didn’t expect.
This post is an honest recap. What went well, what surprised us, and what’s coming next.
The Products That Are Moving
Three products are currently in stock at Fortinos: Chicken Souvlaki, Pork Souvlaki, and Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast. Of the three, the Chicken Souvlaki has moved fastest — no surprise for a family that has been perfecting that recipe since Kostas and Anastasia Dikeos came from Greece. The Pork Souvlaki has been the discovery product, with shoppers picking it up alongside the chicken version because they’d never seen a pre-marinated pork option done authentically.
The Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast is winning with weeknight cooks who want quality protein without prep time.
What Shoppers Are Saying
The response we’ve received directly — through social media, at our Cash & Carry from customers who spotted us at Fortinos, and through Fortinos’ own feedback channels — has been consistent: people are appreciating the clean ingredient list. Our core Glacial Treasure line is gluten-free, soy-free, and nitrite-free, and shoppers who read labels have noticed. Many mentioned they’d been looking for a frozen chicken option they could trust.
The Three Generations Story Resonates
What we didn’t expect: the family story has been landing harder than we anticipated. Shoppers who recognized us from our BlogTO or Streets of Toronto features are proud to see our name on the shelf. And customers who didn’t know us before are stopping to read the story on the packaging. In an aisle full of anonymous store brands, the fact that Kostas and Anastasia Dikeos came from Greece and built this business — and that their four children and five grandchildren are running it today — is a differentiator that matters.
What’s Coming Next
More Fortinos locations are being added to the rollout throughout the summer. Sampling events are being scheduled — follow us on social media for dates. The Shish Tawook and Chicken & Pork Souvlaki mixed skewer are on deck to join the retail lineup as we ramp up production capacity.
And a note to our loyal Cash & Carry customers at 300 Milliken Blvd, Toronto: everything you love is still here. The full range, our homemade Tzatziki and Tirokafteri made from Anastasia’s original Greek recipes, and the same wholesale pricing. Fortinos is where new customers meet us. Milliken is where you’ll always find us. Open Monday to Friday 9am–5pm, Saturday 9am–3pm.
